I appreciate your interest in the Boone Police Department and our Support Services Division. My name is David Osborne and I serve as the Commander of this division.
I began my career in law enforcement after graduating from Basic Law Enforcement Training at Mitchell Community College in 1997. After graduating, I was hired by the Wilkesboro Police Department where I served as a uniformed Patrol Officer for three years and was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant. I supervised a shift of Patrol Officers until 2003 when I transferred to the Boone Police Department.
I have served with the Boone Police Department for seventeen years. I began my employment with the Boone Police Department in 2003 as a Patrol Division uniformed officer. After two years of service in this capacity, I was selected for a position with the Criminal Investigations Division where I served as a General Investigations Unit Detective. In 2013, I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and I supervised the General Investigations Unit until being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2020. During the course of my career, I graduated from Lees-McRae College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice; I have been awarded the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Education and Training Standards Commission; I have completed and been certified in the North Carolina Criminal Investigation Certification Program which required a minimum of 500 hours of criminal investigations specific training; I am also certified in North Carolina as a General Instructor and a Specialized Instructor in Subject Control and Arrest Techniques, as well as focus on a number of other areas of instruction.
Aside from general police work, I enjoy working with the community and being a resource in any way that I can. Another area in which I serve is in conducting and participating in community events and programs. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you might have.
