Welcome to the Boone Police Department Patrol Division. My name is Lance Wills and I serve as the Commander of the Patrol Division.
I completed the Greensboro Police Department 90th Police Academy in 2009. I served as a Field Training Officer, Community Resource Officer, a Detective in the Crimes Against Persons Unit, a Patrol Corporal, and a Vice/Narcotics Corporal for the Greensboro Police Department. I was a member of the Hazardous Devices Team for several years. I transferred to the Boone Police Department in 2018, and have served as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, and member of the Special Response Team. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Greensboro College. I hold a Masters of Public Administration from Appalachian State University. I have been awarded the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
The Patrol Division consists of four squads that provide service to the Town of Boone 24 hours a day. Patrol Officers answer calls for service and work to proactively address public safety concerns.
