The Police Department hires for
three different positions, Telecommunicator, Administrative Assistant, and
Sworn Police Officer.
Positions are filled by advertising vacancies
in the Watauga Democrat and the Mountain Times. During these periods of
advertisement, applications may be obtained from The Watauga County Employment Security
Commission. Their phone number is 828-265-5325.
Applicants for sworn positions must be U.S.
Citizens, be at least 20 years of age, have completed North Carolina Basic Law
Enforcement Training or have Law Enforcement Training or have Law Enforcement
Certification from another state which may be transferred to North Carolina.
