Bike Patrol Unit

The Bicycle Patrol was created to provide patrol officers with an additional tool with which to serve the community. The bicycles allow officers to interact with the public in a more personal manner and to provide a visible police presence in many areas not easily accessible by patrol vehicles. Boone PD currently has eight officers assigned to bicycle patrol. These officers are: Sergeant Bobby Creed, Master Police Officer Len Hagaman, School Resource Officer Bill Hartley Jr, Officer Joe Knapp, Officer Dennis O’neal, Officer Jake Harkey, & Officer Petey Hausley. Each of these officers has completed a 40 hour class on Effective Bicycle Policing, which covered topics such as Vehicle Stops, Bike Patrol Techniques, Bike Safety and Physical Conditioning.

If you need to contact Boone Police regarding Bicycle Patrol, please email Captain Andy Le Beau or call at 828-268-6927.
