Police Employment Opportunities

The Police Department hires for three different positions, Telecommunicator, Administrative Assistant, and Sworn Police Officer.

Positions are filled by advertising vacancies in the Watauga Democrat, the Mountain Times, and on the North Carolina Justice Academy Job Bank.

Currently we are  not accepting applications.

Applicants for sworn positions must be U.S. Citizens, be at least 20 years of age, have completed North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training or be currently enrolled in North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training or have Law Enforcement Certification from another state, which may be transferred to North Carolina.  You can find more information at the Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
