The Town of Boone’s planning jurisdiction encompasses 13 square miles of rapidly urbanizing land located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.

Here the Planning & Inspections Department assists the Town Council and appointed Boards in managing growth and promoting public health, safety and general welfare through formulation of plans, policy recommendations and administration of the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance and North Carolina State Building Codes. It is our goal to provide the very best service to our clients in the development community while developing strategies to guide growth in a manner that preserves and enhances both the natural and built environment.

The Planning & Inspections Department is open Monday though Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at 680 West King Street, Boone, NC.
