Commander of the Investigations Division
The Investigations Division is staffed by the Division Commander who supervises two units, General Investigations and Narcotics Investigations. This division is primarily responsible for the follow-up investigations of major crimes against persons or property in the Town of Boone and Narcotics and Vice Investigations.
Hello and thank you for your interest in the Boone Police Department’s Investigations Division. My name is Chris Hatton and I serve as the Commander of the Investigations Division for the Boone Police Department in beautiful Boone, North Carolina.
I have enjoyed a 21+ law enforcement career that has taken me many places and taught me many things. In my career, I have served citizens in the following positions, Patrol Officer, K-9 Handler, Patrol Sergeant, General Investigator, Narcotics Investigator, Narcotics Sergeant and now Criminal Investigations Division Commander. I have attended many specialized training courses in various areas, such as, investigation techniques, forensics and leadership. I have also earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science in Criminal Justice from Lees-McRae College and a Master of Justice Administration from Methodist University. These experiences have prepared me to better serve the people of Boone. I am a service driven person and I am both humbled and excited to serve the citizens and visitors of Boone.
The Criminal Investigations Division strives to provide the best service possible to our citizens and visitors. We believe in being respectful to everyone we meet daily. We are committed to conducting thorough, fair and objective investigations each time our services are needed.
