Boone Police Conduct DWI Checking Station

On Thursday night, October 19th, area law enforcement agencies conducted a DWI checkpoint and multiple charges were made.

Boone Police, along with ASU Police, NC ALE, and NC DMV License and Theft agents, conducted the checkpoint near the intersection of King Street and College Street. The North Carolina Department of Public Health provided a Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit, within which suspected violators were tested and processed. 30 total traffic and criminal charges were made, as outlined below:

DWI – 2
Seat belt – 1
Driving While License Revoked – 3
No Operator License – 2
Open Container – 1
Other Traffic Violations – 9
Misdemeanor Drug Violations – 8
Other Misdemeanor Violations – 4

The following persons were arrested as a result of this checkpoint:

John Michael Degagne, age 49 of Boone, DWI and DWLR
Damon Lamont Sanders-Pratt, age 22 of Boone, Assault on a Female
Crystal Michelle Weisner, age 28 of Boone, DWI
